Fast Track and Premium
Two paid urgent services, each with an appointment. Which one you can use depends on what you are applying for.
1 Day Premium
- For adult renewals only. You hand in your old passport at the appointment.
- Earliest appointment: 2 days after you apply.
- Your new passport is ready 4 hours after your appointment.
- Cost: £239.50, or £253.50 for a 54-page frequent traveller passport.
1 Week Fast Track
- For renewals, changes to personal details (such as name, place of birth or gender), replacements for lost, stolen or damaged passports, and child passports.
- Earliest appointment: the next day after you apply.
- A courier delivers the new passport 1 week after your appointment.
- Cost, adult: £192, or £206 for 54 pages. Child: £156.50, or £170.50 for 54 pages.
Both services
Appointments are at one of seven passport offices. Use the finder there to see which is nearest.
You can book up to 3 weeks in advance, and appointments last up to 10 minutes.
When you cannot use them
- First adult passport: use the standard service instead.
- Outside the UK: apply for an emergency travel document instead.
- Already applied: do not pay for an urgent passport. You will not get it sooner and will be charged a £34.50 admin fee for each additional application.
Standard timing
GOV.UK points to a separate HM Passport Office page for how long a standard application takes, and does not give one fixed figure on the application pages. Check it when you apply, and do not book travel until you have your passport. For urgent medical travel, or a serious illness or death of a close friend or relative, call the Passport Adviceline.
