Is my passport valid to travel?

Enter the dates on your passport and your trip. You get a pass or fail for each rule and the exact dates to meet. Nothing leaves your browser.

Which rule?

The rules, as GOV.UK states them

  • Schengen area: your passport must have a date of issue less than 10 years before the day you arrive, and an expiry date at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave. The expiry date does not need to fall within 10 years of the issue date. Passports renewed before 1 October 2018 may have been issued more than 10 years ago, which makes them invalid for Schengen entry. Ireland is not part of these rules and has its own entry requirements.
  • Thailand, as an example of a longer rule: the expiry date must be at least 6 months after the day you arrive, with at least 1 blank page.
  • Anywhere else: every country sets its own rule. Read the entry requirements page for your destination in GOV.UK's foreign travel advice, and check with your airline or travel provider.

If the result says you need a new passport, see renewing. A new passport has a new number, so do not book travel until you have it, and see urgent services if time is short.
